Softball All Stars

Evaluations

To be determined

We are excited to announce some opportunities in an All-Star program this coming year for Softball.

The overall goal of the All Star program is to provide an opportunity for our top level players to play at a higher level of competition within our program.

Based on coach and player interest in each age division, we hope to form one All Star team in each age division in March.  These teams would practice once per week during the regular rec season and participate in 2-3 weekend tournaments through the end of the spring.  These teams would continue to play over the summer as one of our traditional All Star teams playing in another 3 or 4 tournaments perhaps.  These teams could continue playing in the fall if there is interest from the families.

Players must be current participants in the SRA rec program to be eligible (must play on a 2017 Spring rec softball team to play on Summerfield Stars team).  Players will be eligible for the league in which they are registered (see registration information for birthday cutoffs).

Player selection:    Evaluations will be run by SRA board members and their delegates who do not have a child trying out for group in question. Players who earn a spot will be on the team for the duration of the calendar year or until they decide to leave the team.  Players will have to reevaluate in 2018 to play the following season.  Teams will consist of 11 players.  Additional evaluations will be held in the summer and fall if any players choose to drop from the team for any reason.

Coach Selection: Anyone interested in being head coach must submit their name to league Commissioner for SRA board approval prior to evaluations.  Assistant coaches will be selected by head coach and approved by SRA board after teams are formed.

Evaluation dates: March 11th and March 18th.  Times and location to be determined.

Cost: We are actively working on pricing out uniforms and tournaments. We will update final pricing as soon as we can.  Cost will cover two shirts, two pants, two hats, two pairs of socks, one helmet, insurance and SRA field use.  Tournaments do have gate fees/parking fees for spectators that will not be covered.  Depending on number of tournaments played, teams may have to pay additional tournament entry fees.
